Its been awhile

Virginia! We made it to our first Army town!
This first move is bittersweet. I miss my family so much it hurts.
However, Ryan and I are back together again, yea!
It has been a very long time since I wrote on my blog,
and since I have a ton of free time I figured I should start it up again.
So here I am...just got back from our first church visit here in Virginia.
We went to a Presbyterian church near our apartment and is was very different than what I am used to back home. Click on the link above and you can see a little of what we experienced.
There were only about 30 people in the congregation and 90% were seniors. Lets just say we had a very warm welcome and they want us to keep coming :)

On a side note my brother gave my sister and I these very cool Chia Pets. They are little ceramic men sitting in different poses. Mine is sitting with his hands behind his head. I finally got around to watering it last week and it sprouted! So I am going to update you on his progress of growing hair on his noggin. Stay tuned!

In all my free time now since Ryan is working at Fort Lee and has to use the car for work, I am going to start some art projects and start crocheting again! So off to walmart to get my supplies!

New Start

Most of you know that Ryan and I have moved to Oceanside the beginning of June.
We are currently living with his parents until we find jobs and an apartment. We are still working on the jobs part. This week Ryan has two interviews: one a sales company selling cheaper credit card machines to small businesses and a high school Bible/History teacher at the local Christian school. Be praying he gets the teaching position because that would fulfill his dream of being a teacher. Meanwhile he can work on his masters and eventually teach at the college level!
I am so excited for this interview!
Sales...blah! No way, dude!

My interviews = zero!
Which amazes me...
since I have 8 years of retail experience and have applied for about 30 + jobs.
But we are learning patience in all this frustration.
On a more positive note I am ever so slowly learning my way around town...
I am thinking of buying a GPS for when I start subbing! I want to be available to the 4 surrounding towns and I only know my way to target, walmart and the beach! :)
Meanwhile, I am working on a small etsy store for my new creations and getting a great SoCal tan! I am also learning how to boogie board and body surf.
My next step is getting connected in our church's small group on thursday nights. I hope to build strong relationships with young couples so I can have a few friends in town. Thats always good right? At times, I feel all alone in this house of 7 members. Crazy, huh? but it's true. Sometimes you need people other than family to talk to. So I am working on that.
This last week my family came and visited! I was so happy they came, I really needed that! My brother, sister and did the tourist thing and went to all the parks! Mom even joined us for the Wild Animal Park and the aquarium! We soaked up the SoCal sun and I got a good taste of driving back and forth between San Diego and Oceanside!
I will post pictures of our adventures soon.
Well I better go shower, I just conquered cleaning out the Swan's fridge!

Teacher Credential Graduation

So Saturday was such a wonderful day!
I attended my best friends baby shower in the morning then
I graduated from Simpson's Teacher Credentialing Program!
YEAH! I am finally done with college classes!!
I have to write one small paper this week about my educational philosophy and
take the RICA test in April and I can then apply for my official teaching credential.
Next mission...find a teaching job!
However I am going to wait to substitute and all that until this fall
when Ryan and I will be all moved to Southern California!Waiting for my medallion!

Trisha and I endured the past 3 semesters together!
So wonderful to have her as a friend!

My best friend Vanea and I, her baby is due in 2 weeks and she looks amazing!

My very supportive family!
The Lord has truly blessed us as a family this year!

Christmas Egg Rolls

Merry Christmas!
My family has been wanting me to make egg rolls for months.
I learned from making them with my Hong Kong team members for a fundraiser.
So, Ryan and I picked up all the ingredients yesterday and this morning I started cooking! So I mixed shredded carrots, cabbage, celery and some green peppers together in a bowl.
I soaked rice noodles in water until soft then drained, cut them and added it to the bowl.
I added salt, pepper and oyster sauce then started wrapping!
In order to seal the rolls I used egg yokes and brushed it on.
After I finished a good amount of rolls, I fried them up in oil.
And wallah...Yummy, huh?
